7: to everyone who reads
That's most of what I want to say in this open letter. Just go get the book.
Because Sara Hagerty's words have been making hearts tender for years, her honesty and proclamation of adoration make me want to pursue God Himself in greater ways and they draw me to a greater awareness of His goodness, even in the bitter things. And this book is her story, her grace, her life shared because of Christ - His expression of Himself in her is beautiful and true.
I started reading last night and had already wept and laughed by the time I put the book down with weary eyes, wishing I was young enough for an all-nighter.
"Whatever lost expectations you may be facing—in family, career, singleness, or marriage—Every Bitter Thing Is Sweet will bring you closer to a God who longs for us to know Him more. What does it look like to know God’s nearness when life breaks? What does it mean to receive his life when earthly life remains barren? How can God turn the bitterness of unmet desire into new flavors of joy?" [via]
This book just released this week and I was fortunate to be able to read it a little bit in advance. I think you will love it … it may be the perfect way to find His nearness once again, in the middle of whatever pain, delays and frustration you are experiencing. GET IT.
